Jessica Coonen Registered Massage Therapist
Jessica’s journey as a Registered Massage Therapist originally began with a summer course that focused on palliative and wheelchair massage. She later joined the first class of students attending the Registered Massage Therapy program at Kootenay Columbia College in Nelson in 2016. Upon graduation, she opened her office in Winlaw to serve the Slocan Valley.
Jessica is excited to join the team at Head 2 Toe and do what she loves best, providing professional hands-on care to patients in the Kootenays. Her techniques include Swedish, deep tissue, relaxation, and injury recovery massage.
Offering restorative, recovery, and relaxation treatments with integrity and connection is Jessica’s dream job. She is inspired to provide a welcoming opportunity for the body/mind/spirit to open/wake up/realign. Her focus is to set a safe space, show up with the best intentions, and dance the body back to life. She invites the body to remember what it is capable of being and doing. At the same time, Jessica provides client centered therapy, targeting specific areas of concern using manual massage techniques that follow individual treatment plans. Thomas Heikes Registered Acupuncturist
Thomas harmonizes Acupuncture with deeply embodied modalities such as somatic touch including Chinese massage and bodywork, medical qi gong and biodynamic craniosacral therapy. He often weaves in handcrafted herbal medicines, sound therapy with singing bowls and tuning forks, hot stones, cupping, gua sha, and body alignment guidance.
His approach is rooted in Chinese medicine wisdom, guiding holistic alignment and reclaiming inner heart radiance through seasonally attuned lifestyle guidance and harmonized dietary knowledge. Care is adapted to each individual, honouring their unique being and supporting aligned living and transformative vitality.
Each Acupuncture session is thoughtfully adapted to the unique constitution of the individual, creating a gentle yet powerful healing experience. This practice supports a wide range of concerns, including pain management, nervous system regulation, stress and overwhelm, mental health, sleep issues, digestion, hormonal balance, fertility, pregnancy care, recovery from surgery, and overall vitality. Thomas works with patients across all stages of life and has a particular sensitivity to supporting those who are highly sensitive or neurodivergent, as well as anyone seeking greater balance, resilience, and connection.
Thomas graduated from the Traditional Chinese Medicine program at Pacific Rim College in British Columbia and practiced acupuncture in the USA for a few years prior to his return to practice in British Columbia in 2024. He is currently an acupuncture instructor at the Kootenay Columbia College in Nelson, BC. He has also studied Medical Qi Gong, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, and energy work for many years. Thomas has deeply studied Western herbal medicine for many years through intensive apprenticeships, many professional courses, and much self-exploration, and he has studied ceremonial plant medicine mediation with many groups and teachers.
Thomas is a highly sensitive being, gifted with innate sensitivity, intuition, empathy, and a curious loving heart. He has been on the holistic medicine path for most of his life, fully committed to holistic vitality by necessity, the wounded healer’s journey, learning how to thrive in developing sensitivity instead of isolating and retreating from the intense world we live in. His journey has taken him around world, it’s been the greatest source of learning of life, and the most confronting and humbling experience as well. It has required finding balance and coming into right relationship with himself and with the Earth in order to heal. He is so grateful for his experiences, each one is a brush stroke on the canvas of his life.
Thomas helps people shift from stress and overwhelm into alignment, resilience, and deep embodied vitality in today’s intense and stimulating world. He shines brightest when supporting sensitive and neurodivergent individuals to thrive, as well as anyone seeking to feel more regulated, connected, and balanced. Together he helps explore the patterns of imbalance within your unique being and provides personalized holistic care to support deep nervous system regulation and lasting vitality.
What Thomas truly offers is an invitation into stillness, to be seen with an open heart in a safe healing container, to support a return into alignment with a sacred way of being. Thomas shines brightest when sharing with those who welcome journeying into the unknown, even if it may be a challenging process, to explore what is inhibiting one’s fullest expression, and together you may meet and transform it.
He creates a truly supportive healing experience by slowing down into a safe, slow, and grounded space, exploring how to be of greatest support on your healing journey. Through calm, attuned sessions, acupuncture supports regulation of the nervous system and nurtures embodied resilience and inner calm in a world that can feel intense and overstimulating.
